VariTrane® variable-air-volume (VAV) units lead the industry
in quality and reliability and are designed to meet the specific needs
of today’s applications. VariTrane low-height fan-powered terminal
units are specifically designed for the applications where available
height is restricted. The compact height design does not negatively
influence the valuable features. These terminal units reduce energy
use and operating costs with Electronically Commutated Motor (ECM) and
modulating airflow control algorithms. Additionally, VariTrane
low-height fan-powered terminal units are universally handed and
optionally equipped with factory mounted and commissioned unit
controllers, which reduce installation effort and startup time. This
generation of VariTrane units builds upon history and expands the
products into the most complete VAV offering in the industry.
Low-height parallel fan-powered units provide
the benefit of a 10.5 inches casing height and offer energy savings
due to intermittent fan control. The fan energizes only in heating
mode when space needs heat. When energized, the fan can be
controlled for constant-speed or variable-speed operation.
Additional energy savings are obtained by using warm plenum air for
free reheat. Motor heat is never wasted in parallel units. They are
an excellent choice when plenum spaces are tight and minimal zone
heating is needed.
Low-height series fan-powered units provide the benefit
of a 10.5 and 12 inches casing height. The fan in series of
fan-powered units is always energized in occupied mode. When
energized, the fan can be controlled for constant-speed or
variable-speed operation. They are common in applications such as
conference rooms, cafeterias, etc., that desire higher supply
airflow rates at all conditions.
