Their wide operating temperature range, electronic expansion valve, and short anti-recycle timers provide flexibility for high-performance cooling and heating systems.

    Big Capabilities in a Compact Footprint

    Chiller replacement can be faster, cheaper and less disruptive due to the compact size of the Series R helical rotary screw chiller, which fits into most existing mechanical rooms without requiring additional floor space or wall tear-outs. Units can pass through a standard double doors (72-inch by 80-inch) fully assembled, and both single- and dual-point power connections can take advantage of existing wiring.

  • The Trane helical rotary screw compressor, the heart of the Series R chiller, is a proven design resulting from years of research and thousands of test hours. 
  • The falling film evaporator in the Series R chiller features a Trane patented design that requires less refrigerant charge.
  • Series R chillers provide high compressor lift capabilities for use with heat recovery and non-reversible water-to-water heat pump applications for highly efficient system designs.  
  • The direct drive, low-speed compressor with only four moving parts delivers efficiency and reliability with low maintenance requirements. 
  • The suction gas-cooled motor stays at a uniformly low temperature for enhanced motor life. 
  •  The electronic expansion valve, with fewer moving parts than alternative valve designs, provides reliable operation at high lift conditions. 
  • Tracer® SC+ building automation system features pre-engineered chiller plant control, enhancing the rotation, staging and sequencing of multiple units to meet dynamic building loads.

 

  1. RTZA (Chiller Capacity 80-250 tons; 1300-3000 MBH)

    • Operates with ultra-low refrigerant R-1233zd(E) with a GWP of 1. 
    • By utilizing existing medium-temperature heat sources, the RTZA heat pump chiller delivers hot water temperatures to 210°F (99°C).
    • Ideal for high-temperature commercial and industrial process heating applications.
  2. RTWD (Chiller Capacity 80-250 tons; 600-3,000 MBH)

    • The RTWD heat pump chiller features expand heating capabilities of up to 165°F (74°C) with refrigerant R 515B.
    • Operated with R-513A refrigerant for both comfort cooling and low-temperature industrial process cooling applications, with leaving evaporator solution temperatures as low as 10°F (-12°C).
    • Ideal for process cooling and commercial comfort cooling and heating applications.
  3. RTHD (Chiller Capacity 175-400 tons; 2,100-5,000 MBH)

    • R-513A refrigerant utilized for all applications.
    • The RTHD chiller can be configured to produce leaving evaporator solution temperatures as low as 5°F (-15°C) for industrial process cooling applications. 
    • The RTHD chiller can generate condenser water temperatures as high as 111°F (44°C). 
    • Ideal for process cooling and commercial comfort cooling applications.
