Evolving Smart Building Technology

Hosted by ASHRAE Journal

July 27, 2023

Thursday, July 27th

The expectations for smart buildings are rapidly evolving in response to market and technology changes. Customers are demanding more than ever from their connected HVAC systems. Drivers including cybersecurity, integration potential, accessibility, and intelligent remote serviceability are influencing smart building evolution that determines the long-term success of a smart building solution.

Building controls and automation systems are the key to creating spaces that prioritize performance and energy efficiency without sacrificing comfort. By harnessing flexible, tailored, non-prescriptive system controls, engineers can provide the right solution for the right purpose at the right time. Hear from Trane controls experts about evolving technologies, market trends, and the resources available to help you through every step of your next project – from design, to installation, to operation, and beyond.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Explore a variety of market and industry trends that are driving customer demands and technological changes (i.e. skilled labor shortages, AI, interoperability, decarbonization, IAQ, sustainability, ESG goals, etc.)
  • Learn how to meet customers’ long-term goals by designing future-forward systems that utilize modern building controls and consider the entire controls life cycle
  • Understand when and how to involve IT while addressing cybersecurity, IP, and integration needs to ensure seamless implementation

Explore controls technologies from design through operation, and beyond.
