Thank you for purchasing our home comfort products. Registering your products gives you one of the strongest manufacturer’s limited warranties on parts available.

You’ll need the serial number, model number and installation date for each product being registered.

Base Limited Warranty
Every Trane residential unit comes with a Base Limited Warranty. This warranty covers parts that break because of manufacturer defect, but it does not cover the cost of labor. The Base Limited Warranty can range from 1 year to 20 years depending on the product. If you register your product within 60 days of installation, either by phone or online, then it becomes a Registered Limited Warranty.
Registered Limited Warranty
If you register your new Trane product within 60 days of installation, the Base Limited Warranty is lengthened and becomes a Registered Limited Warranty at no additional cost. The Registered Limited Warranty can range from 5 years to lifetime depending on the product. Registration can be completed online or by phone. If the product is not registered within 60 days of installation, Trane’s Base Limited Warranty terms will apply. Registration is not required for all states and provinces.

The Optional Extended Warranty covers the cost of parts and labor. To purchase an Optional Extended Warranty, please contact your local Trane dealer. Find a Dealer

Warranty terms may vary depending on which Trane product you own, but here is an overview of what is covered. Consult the Limited Warranty document shipped with your unit for more details.

  • Air Conditioners - compressor, outdoor coil, internal functional parts
  • Heat Pumps - compressor, outdoor coil, internal functional parts
  • Furnaces - heat exchanger, internal functional parts
  • Coils - internal functional parts
  • All-in-One Systems - heat exchanger (where applicable), compressor, coil, internal functional parts
  • Handlers - internal functional parts
  • Air Cleaners - internal functional parts (excludes filters)
  • Humidifiers - internal functional parts
  • Controls and Thermostats - internal functional parts

Both the Base and Registered Limited Warranty for your Trane product are only valid for the original purchaser unless you take the steps to properly transfer your warranty. If you’re selling your house, the warranty will end at the date of the homesale. Either you or the new homeowner must notify Trane of the warranty transfer within 90 days of the homesale for the transfer to be effective. Transferability restrictions may vary by state.

How much does it cost to transfer your warranty?
Option 1

The warranty transfer is $59 during the initial 60-day product registration period.

Option 2

The warranty transfer is $99 if you transfer at the time of the homesale.
