Baylor Scott & White

As Baylor Scott & White began planning its new medical center in College Station, energy efficiency, doctor retention, patient comfort and safety were priorities. The health care system sought an alternative to boiler heating, common in medical facilities, in order to combat high natural gas and tower makeup water prices. For their operating rooms, Baylor Scott & White was looking for an energy efficient means to achieve the surgeon’s need for cooler and drier air, which often leads to improved patient outcomes and still satisfies temperature and humidity health code requirements. The hospital also wanted to incorporate new technologies to control the circulation of contaminants to reduce airborne disease transmission

Dallas Stars Ice Skating Rink

Seeking to provide area residents and visitors with a new type of holiday activity, the City of Farmers Branch and the Dallas Stars made plans to create a seasonal, recreational ice skating rink. The venue would be constructed on a 100 percent outdoor site, unshaded from rain, sun and temperatures that ranged from the low 30s to the high 70s. To create and maintain a quality ice surface that would be available for use throughout the season, the Dallas Stars facility team sought a system that would be reliable and redundant. With the chiller plant to be located close to the rink, quiet operation was also important to maintain a pleasant environment for skaters. In  order to be ready for its November opening, the construction project needed to be completed in just three months.

Nebraska Furniture Mart

As Nebraska Furniture Mart planned its new Texas store, customer comfort, energy savings and demand avoidance were priorities. “Dryer air is more comfortable. We wanted to keep the humidity levels down to make our customers comfortable, and keep harmful moisture off the furniture,” said Robert Kincheloe, Texas store facilities manager, Nebraska Furniture Mart. “In addition, with the energy grid nearing capacity, the area was plagued with rolling brown outs. We were building a very large facility. Of course we wanted to keep our utility costs down, but we also wanted to be good stewards to the community and not be the cause of additional outages."
