The Tracer® Zone Sensor delivers advanced, flexible sensing technology in wired or wireless models to meet the needs of any job or application. The sensors are available in 12 different models that all provide 4‑in‑1 sensing technology – temperature, relative humidity, CO₂, and occupancy – unified through a modern, intuitive ePaper display. It is engineered for flexibility, giving customers the option to choose the right solution for virtually any building or application.

A zone sensor is a device in a room or space that measures conditions like temperature and sometimes humidity, occupancy, or air quality. It helps the HVAC system understand what is happening in that area.

A zone sensor collects information from the space and sends it to a separate controller or HVAC unit. That controller then decides how the equipment should respond, such as heating, cooling, or adjusting airflow.

Wired zone sensors bring the flexibility of the new zone sensor portfolio to projects where hardwired connectivity is preferred. They deliver the same streamlined setup, sensing performance, and intuitive user experience as the wireless models—now in a controller-powered, direct-wired format. The result is a consistent, scalable sensing platform that helps customers standardize across more building types, applications, and project requirements.

Tracer® wireless zone sensors use proven wireless technology to deliver flexible, reliable communication between the sensor, connected equipment, and the Tracer® system. Built on Trane’s building control expertise, each sensor is designed to help ensure seamless, secure, and uninterrupted wireless communication.

A thermostat both measures temperature and directly controls the HVAC equipment, often with user settings and schedules. A zone sensor mainly measures room conditions and passes that information to another controller that makes the control decisions.
