Quick Facts
A building management system (BMS) is a tool to help monitor, control, and analyze various components of a building. A BMS organizes all the building data, access, and control specific to each user's needs. When used correctly, a BMS will help buildings and building management personnel work more efficiently.
A BMS and building automation system (BAS) are very similar. Usually, a BMS is a supervisory system with additional storage, record keeping, and more powerful computing capabilities. A BMS can also incorporate many buildings and BASs into a single interface.
Using a BMS like Trane's Tracer® Ensemble® connects all of your building controls and systems together into one building management interface. Within this interface you can:
Building management systems can include HVAC, lighting, security, access control, energy management, grid management, asset management, utility management, and more.
