AB 841: Upgrading Classrooms When It’s Most Crucial

There has never been a bigger spotlight on the importance indoor air ventilation within our classrooms than today. In recognition of this, California Governor Gavin Newsom approved Assembly Bill 841 in September 2020, (also known as “known as the “Healthy Schools for a Healthy Recovery Bill” and AB 841), creating a grant program supporting public schools in repairing and replacing inefficient HVAC and ventilation systems throughout the state to help mitigate the risk of airborne pollutants in our local schools.

  • Provides up to $600 million for Public School Ventilation Work

  • Includes reimbursement for work contracted and performed after August 1, 2020
  • Follows recommendations of the UC Davis / NEMI White Paper and steps of the NEMI Ventilation Verification Assessment Test Sheets
