Find optimal comfort with an air conditioner and furnace bundled in a single box. Gas and electric packaged systems switch between two fuel sources for maximum efficiency.
What to look for: Energy efficiency, cost, and heating and cooling stages

Upgrading your system to a higher SEER rating can help you save on your monthly energy costs. Lower energy usage can also help protect the environment for future generations.
*The majority of systems installed prior to 2006 are 10 SEER or lower. For this example, the air conditioner has a SEER rating of up to 20 SEER. Potential energy savings may vary depending on your lifestyle, system settings, equipment maintenance, local climate, home construction and installation of equipment and duct system.
**Savings based on national averages.

Gas/Electric Packaged HVAC System FAQs
A gas/electric packaged HVAC system combines a high-efficiency electric air conditioner with a gas furnace to give you a complete temperature solution for your home. Both the air conditioner and the gas furnace are housed inside one cabinet that is placed outside your home, giving you more space back inside.
Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER2) measures how efficiently the air conditioner portion of your gas/electric packaged HVAC system is cooling your home. The higher the SEER2 rating, the more efficient the air conditioner is at cooling. While the Department of Energy has set SEER2 minimums that went into effect on Jan. 1, 2023, the best system investment for you depends on factors like geographic location and system size.
Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) measures how efficiently the gas furnace portion of your gas/electric system is converting fuel to energy and heating your home. The higher the AFUE rating, the more efficient the gas furnace is at heating.
