The XL824 smart thermostat is compatible with any brand of traditional HVAC system, including standard single-stage, two-stage, and multi-speed systems. It is not compatible with variable speed systems. This means you can take advantage of all that Trane HVAC Diagnostics has to offer without having a Trane HVAC system.
No. The XL824 smart thermostat is for use with standard, non-zoned HVAC systems. Zoned systems must utilize the Link UX360 or another variable speed-compatible smart thermostat.
The IDS is a humidity-control system that pairs a compatible Trane smart thermostat with a variable speed Trane AC unit or heat pump and an air handler/furnace. Sensors monitor your home’s humidity and signal the AC unit, heat pump, or whole-home dehumidifier to pull moisture out of your home without over-cooling, keeping indoor humidity at a comfortable level and improving indoor air quality (IAQ).
Yes. In addition to controlling this smart thermostat manually and with the Trane Home App, you can also integrate it with your voice assistant to optimize your comfort without getting off the couch or leaving your guests.

The registered limited warranty for functional parts on the XL824 is 10 years. This far exceeds other big-name smart thermostats, which have 1-5-year warranties.
