ComfortLink™ II XL850 Smart Thermostat FAQs
The XL850 smart thermostat is compatible with Trane variable speed communicating systems. It is not compatible with other HVAC brands or standard single-stage, two-stage, or multi-speed systems.
No. Only the Trane Link Zone Thermostat, the Trane Link UX360 smart thermostat, and the ComfortLink™ II XL1050 smart thermostat are compatible with a Trane zoned HVAC system. They’re paired with a specific HVAC zone controller and HVAC sensors.
The IDS is a humidity-control system that pairs a compatible Trane smart thermostat with a variable speed Trane AC unit, heat pump, and air handler/furnace. Sensors monitor your home’s humidity and signal the AC unit, heat pump, or whole-home dehumidifier to pull moisture out of your home without over-cooling, keeping indoor humidity at a comfortable level and improving indoor air quality (IAQ).
Yes. In addition to being able to control this smart thermostat manually and with the Trane Home App, you can also integrate it with your voice assistant to optimize your comfort without getting off the couch or leaving your guests.
The XL850 smart thermostat comes with a built-in Z-Wave bridge. This makes it possible to integrate many other smart home devices, including the Awair Element Indoor Air Quality Monitor, certain lighting systems, some security systems, and more. Visit Trane Home for a complete list of certified and compatible products.
The registered limited warranty for functional parts on the XL850 is 10 years. This far exceeds other big-name smart thermostats, which have 1-5-year warranties.
