Trane Plant Recognizes Vidalia and Macon-Based 2017 Leadership Program Graduates

VIDALIA, Ga., April 24, 2017 – Leaders from Trane, a leading global provider of indoor comfort solutions and services and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, recognized seven Vidalia Trane employees and an eighth employee who works in the Macon Trane office for completing the Team Leader Development Program (TLDP), a rigorous professional education program. This spring’s graduates represent the first 2017 cohort for the Vidalia plant which manufactures residential air handlers. The first TLDP program Vidalia cohort graduated late last year.

A ceremony led by Richard Peterson, plant manager, and Erika Basham, TLDP training leader, was held at the plant to honor the 2017 graduates for their leadership and commitment. Trane leaders Clark Ponthier, vice president of integrated supply chain and Doug Uzarski, residential HVAC operational excellence leader, also joined the recognition ceremony to honor the graduates. During the event, graduates presented their learnings and how they plan to apply them on the job in working with their teams.

Vidalia graduates include Jose Narvaez, production leader; Carrie Barrho, continuous improvement educator; and the following team leaders: Lashanda Gardner, Latara Gibbons, Jen Meadows, Faye Sipp and Graciela Sanchez. Deborah Morgan, who works in Macon for Trane also was honored in the ceremony.

Trane uses a two-tiered process to identify training program participants. Plant leadership nominates participants from selected areas and each shift while other participants are randomly chosen.

Ingersoll Rand offers the TLDP globally as part of its commitment to building a lean culture, a business approach which focuses on providing value to the customer while eliminating internal waste of effort or resources. The program empowers front-line team leaders to own a standard approach to their work that enables them to continuously improve the business and tap their full potential as leaders. Participants are mentored by senior leadership at their site and receive weekly assessments.

Leaders at the Ingersoll Rand sites where TLDP has been previously deployed report that they are seeing a variety of benefits based on the new skills and knowledge that the graduates provide including: better problem solving, strong coaching skills and the ability to provide a more standardized approach to the work they do.
