Trane: A century of service

For 100 years, Trane pioneered the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry. Proven by a history of reliability and innovation, and countless technological and engineering firsts, Trane continues to improve and define the quality, comfort and efficiency of air in homes and buildings.

Founded in 1913 by James Trane and his son, Rueben, as The Trane Company, the brand never ceased to bring new innovative solutions to the world of indoor comfort systems for residential homes and commercial buildings.

Trane led the industry from the invention of air conditioning in 1931 to the first heat pump in 1960 and the entrance into the building automation and management field in 1978 to the recent launch of smart controls featuring home automation with NexiaTM Home Intelligence. Trane has sustained the customer-driven innovation exhibited by its founders and now stands as one of the most preferred HVAC brands in the industry.

Thermo King: 75 years of excellence

Since its start in 1938, Thermo King has shaped the transport temperature control industry, building a legacy of unrelenting expertise, commitment and innovation. Today, Thermo King provides trusted solutions for truck, trailer, bus, rail and marine customers.

In 1939, Thermo King founder Joseph Numero, and chief engineer Frederick Jones, patented the first successful mechanical refrigeration unit, allowing customers to transport refrigerated and frozen food over long distances. This pioneering mechanical refrigeration unit replaced blocks of ice previously used to cool semi-trailers, transforming the industry.

In 1956, Thermo King used its temperature control knowledge and expertise to develop the first air conditioning unit for passenger buses. The breakthrough has since allowed patrons to travel in comfort even during the hottest months of the year.

Thermo King is passionate about meeting the needs of its customers with the confidence that food, pharmaceuticals, technology and more will get delivered with the same quality as the day they were loaded, and transit passengers will travel to their destinations in the comfort they deserve.
