WHAT IS DUCTLESS AIR CONDITIONING?
A ductless ac unit (also called a mini split system) is a product that delivers cool air to a single room, or several rooms, where ductwork isn’t possible or wanted. Ductless AC units are a great option for new additions, sunrooms, garages or areas of the home that need to be cooler.
HOW DOES A DUCTLESS AC UNIT WORK?
A ductless air conditioner works just like a conventional split central air conditioner in that it has an indoor unit and an outdoor unit (hence the name mini split system). Unlike a bulky and ugly window air conditioner, a ductless air conditioner is mounted to a wall, ceiling or placed in the floor - and a small hole is cut that leads to the outdoor unit where warm air is expelled. After that, the ductless mini split system works just like a traditional air conditioner - just without the expensive and obtrusive ductwork.
OTHER TYPES OF MINI-SPLIT SYSTEMS
Ductless systems can be configured in several ways. There are ductless air conditioners, ductless heat pumps that can both cool and heat a room , as well as ductless zoning systems that allow you to tie several rooms together.
