Introducing the New and Improved Trane Home App

The Trane Home App uses your Trane smart thermostat and internet access to control your HVAC system from anywhere, at any time. More than half a million homeowners across the country use our Home App each month to personalize their comfort settings and monitor system performance. But the experience left something to be desired.

You gave honest feedback. We listened. The newly redesigned and enhanced Trane Home App addresses the “old and clunky” scheduling experience of the Classic version, giving you a streamlined, personalized experience that enhances comfort and helps you save energy.

The new scheduling interface helps you make your HVAC system work smarter, not harder. Larger buttons and day-by-day scheduling make it easy to get the comfort you want, when you want it.  

No worries about fat fingers accidentally deleting a period or changing the start and end times. No need to keep tapping Undo.

The new Home App experience is currently in Beta testing and getting rave reviews. And we’re still making tweaks based on feedback from our Beta testers. Below are some of the comments we’ve received.

  • “I like that it is highly customized even within the days. My days are personally very committed to a schedule, so seeing this option when I know what my schedule is each week is very convenient. I don’t have to worry about going into the app constantly. I can set it and forget it!”

  • “The home screen is very visual and good use of the features needed. It has what I need for the main controls.”

Clean design makes it easier to find what you need 

The redesign has also moved some popular features to the Home screen so you don’t have to hunt for what you need. Adjust the schedule, see the upcoming schedule changes, fan settings, utility savings program opt-in, contact your dealer, etc.

Consider opting into remote monitoring and HVAC diagnostics 

If you haven’t already opted in, you can use the Home App to easily opt in to dealer remote monitoring. You only need to do this once. When you do, your Trane smart thermostat sends your Trane dealer information about system performance and maintenance alerts. This HVAC system monitoring can help them spot trends and potential issues before they become big problems.

If they think they can solve a problem remotely, they’ll ask you via the Home App to allow one-time Dealer Remote Access (DRA) to troubleshoot and attempt a fix.  

If they need to set an on-site appointment, the HVAC technician will arrive with the right tools and parts, saving you and the HVAC company time and money. They will also be armed with the Trane HVAC Technician App to help maintain, repair, or install an HVAC system.

Robust changes and updates in the future 

We’ve designed the new Home App so we can easily add new features in the future. Some of the ideas we’re kicking around include: 

  • Schedule an appointment directly on the Service page. 
  • Chat availability. 
  • AI integration with our proprietary manuals and other data to answer your HVAC questions. 

None of these features is a given, just ideas we are considering after getting homeowner feedback. 

Integration with new smart 24v smart thermostats 

The new Home App experience will be fully integrated with our upcoming 24v smart thermostat redesigns. We’re giving the XL824 and XR724 a much-needed overhaul in 2026. They'll have a sleek, new design similar to other smart thermostats on the market, while providing exclusive features to help maximize your comfort and energy savings.

We’ll have more details on these upgrades later this year.
