Driving Innovation: Trane Facilitates Geely's Transition to Electrified Manufacturing
Industry: Industrial
Products Used: Chillers
Topic: Sustainability, Efficiency
- R514A
- Zero-carbon transition
- Top-tier energy efficiency
Challenge
Geely Auto Group has been significantly investing in intelligent manufacturing as part of its transition from traditional combustion engine vehicles to new energy vehicles (NEVs). This transition necessitates cooling systems that can operate continuously 24/7 in the painting workshop, maintain strict humidity control and cooling in battery and cell workshops, and provide precise environmental control in energy storage and battery recycling workshops.
Solution
Trane has been supplying Geely with chillers for a decade, fostering a strong long-term partnership. In 2022, Trane successfully renewed the chiller framework agreement, which includes CDHF 3600 RT units, thereby laying the groundwork for securing Geely’s battery factory projects and meeting their operational requirements.
High-efficiency CDHF and CVHF chillers were installed across 12 Geely production sites, operating continuously 24/7 and meeting stringent humidity and environmental control requirements.
Result
Utilizing low-GWP refrigerants (R514A) and boasting top-tier energy efficiency, these chillers enhance operational efficiency in Geely plants and support Geely’s zero-carbon transition with advanced thermal management, renewable energy, and electrified heating technologies.
In recognition of its contributions to supporting Geely’s energy-saving and sustainability goals, Trane was designated as an outstanding vendor by Geely.
