Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make my baseline design alternative one?
You cannot. The proposed design has to be alternative one because your proposed design was used to build your baseline. There are number of inputs; ventilation, windows, and skylights, that are dependent on the proposed design. You cannot accurately model the baseline until you’ve completed your proposed design.
What happens if I want to change my proposed design after I’ve created my baseline?
The LEED Guide has a built in update feature. This allows you to make changes, as needed, to the proposed design. Once you’ve completed your changes, use the Alternative Setup drop down menu to select Update ASHRAE 90.1 Baseline.
Where is the LEED Guide for Create Plants?
There is no LEED Guide for create plants. The last LEED Guide screen you will see is in Assign Rooms to Systems. You will need to build your plants according to 90.1-2007 Appendix G. Fortunately, we’ve created all necessary equipment to build your plants.
How do I save the building theme?
The Save Building Theme feature is only available on your first pass through templates and only when you start a new LEED Project. The Save Building Theme button is located on the Rooms Tab of Create Templates. The detailed help on the Rooms Tab provides instruction on how to save the building theme.
Why are my construction inputs blank on my baseline alternative?
This will happen if you do not have the 90.1-2007 minimally compliant construction types in your TRACE 700 library. You can download an .exp file that contains the library members from our download center.
Why don’t I see the LEED Guide in Create Rooms?
The LEED Guide is not available in Create Rooms. On the proposed alternative there is no LEED help. You simply need to model your building as usual. There is no LEED Guide in Create Rooms for the baseline alternative because all your changes should take place in Create Templates.
Can I model a high-rise residential building using the Baseline Building Creator?
No, currently the Baseline Building Creator only creates non-residential buildings. High-rise residential can still be modeled in TRACE but you’ll have to manually build the baseline. Stay tuned to future updates for high-rise residential capabilities.
