Improving Your Return on Investment Energy efficiency always makes good business sense, but there is no better time than now for New York City building owners and managers to consider new HVAC solutions that generate significant cost savings and support corporate sustainability goals.

For a limited time, Con Edison electrical customers can apply for unprecedented incentives and rebates under the Demand Management Program, a joint effort by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and Con Edison. The program is designed to accelerate the implementation of high-performing energy measures and reduce peak energy demand across New York City and Westchester County, NY.  Incentives under this program are up to five times higher than pervious offerings.

Who is eligible?

Building owners and managers who are Con Edison electric customers, and third-party developers acting on their behalf, are eligible for enhanced incentives.  To qualify, demand management projects must be completed prior to June 1, 2016.

In addition to the current NYSERDA and Con Edison program offerings, increased incentive rates will be offered to eligible Con Edison electric customers for energy improvements that provide system-coincident peak demand reduction during the summer months. Projects that reduce load by 500 kW or more can also earn an additional bonus incentive of up to 15%.

Trane Can Help

Trane is uniquely qualified to deliver a highly effective solution that qualifies for the highest incentive under the Demand Management Program:  ice storage, a thermal storage technology. Through this reliable and versatile solution, we have delivered demonstrated savings for several fully occupied Class A office buildings in New York City, representing more than 15 million square feet in some of the most recognizable buildings. Ice storage:

  • Utilizes night-time ice production to reduce owners’ energy costs;
  • Earns Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) recognition as a part of the certification process;
  • Generates reductions in overall project costs ─ when coupled with incentives from the Demand Management Program ─ of up to 50 percent and produces a return on investment in as little as three to five years;
  • Delivers annual recurring savings over the 25-year life of the solution; and
  • Allows for a system design that is demand-response ready, further enhancing energy- and money-savings capabilities.

The technology is approved by Con Edison and has been recognized by LEED as a green-design solution.
