Penang Times Square Developer and Consulting Firm First in Malaysia to Receive Trane Energy Efficiency Leader Award

Malaysia, April 22, 2010 – Trane, a business of Ingersoll Rand – and world leader in creating and sustaining safe, comfortable and energy efficient environments – is hosting an awards ceremony and celebration honoring Ivory Properties Group, developer of the new Penang Times Square shopping mall; and GH Consultants Sdn. Bhd., a mechanical & electrical consulting firm of this project for their commitment to energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.
The event is part of the global Earth Day celebrations being hosted for customers and employees worldwide by Ingersoll-Rand plc (NYSE:IR), a leading, global diversified industrial company, to demonstrate its dedication to the environment.
In addition to hosting worldwide events in honor of Earth Day, Ingersoll Rand also is launching a new Center for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability (CEES), a global group of experts dedicated to integrating best practices for the long-term use of energy and other resources – for the company, its customers and the communities in which Ingersoll Rand operates and serves.
Penang Times Square Developer Receives Trane Energy Efficiency Leader Award
Penang Times Square, a new shopping mall developed by Ivory Properties Group in Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia, features one of the country’s most energy-efficient chilled water system plants.
Although the mall was initially designed to include a conventional air conditioning system, Ivory Properties Group, with support and advice from GH Consultants Sdn. Bhd., instead opted for the more energy-efficient Trane chilled water system. The system is expected to achieve 0.63 kW/ton system efficiency and will be 30 percent more efficient than conventional chiller plants found in typical commercial buildings in Malaysia. Because of the companies’ demonstrated commitment to energy and operational efficiency, Ivory Properties Group and GH Consultants will receive the Trane Energy Efficiency Leader Award in a ceremony at One World Hotel located at First Avenue, Bandar Utama City Centre, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
Events also will include the introduction of energy efficient solutions offered by Trane, as well as the launch of new Center for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability by Mr. Kamal Taneja, South East Asia business leader for Hussmann, Thermo King and Trane – three of the world’s leading brands in HVACR.

“On this 40th anniversary of Earth Day, we are proud to honor partners who live their mission of corporate environmental responsibility,” said Mr. Kamal Taneja. “By incorporating an energy efficient water chiller plant into its property, Ivory Properties Group is expected to prevent the production of 797 tons of carbon dioxide annually. This is equal to the environmental contribution of 35,000 trees per year, or taking an equivalent of 180 passenger cars off the road annually.”
