Bill Nelson

Bill Nelson joined Trane Technologies after 34 years in secondary education in state of Kansas. His time in education included 24 years as a high school science teacher and coach and 10 years in school administration. Bill has worked in the following Kansas schools during his career: Buhler High School, Moundridge High School, Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School, Southeast of Saline High School, and for the last 20 years, Smoky Valley High School in Lindsborg, Kansas.

As a high school science teacher, Bill has taught a variety of courses to over 3,000 high school students, including Advanced Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, General Science, Leadership, Life Science, and Principles of Technology. His coaching career includes the following sports: basketball, football, tennis, and track with head coaching stints in high school basketball and tennis. Bill entered secondary school administration and served in the following roles: assistant principal/athletic director, charter school director, and high school principal.

Following his retirement from public education, Bill served as the director of development for Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS before joining Trane in the fall of 2021. Bill currently serves as an educator in residence for Trane, working as a national consultant for schools as they join Trane’s "BTU Crew" educational program.

Bill is a graduate of Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS with a BA in Secondary Science Education. He earned a MEd in school administration from Wichita State University in Wichita, KS. Bill and his wife Kristin live in their hometown of Lindsborg, KS where Kristin still works part time in the high school library after retiring from public education the same year as Bill. The Nelsons have three adult children, Emily, Seth, and Elise.
