Trane introduces Airfinity™, a New Range of High Performance Rooftop Units

New light and compact range of Trane rooftop units designed and manufactured for easy installation and improved operational and energy efficiency

Brussels, June 30 , 2016 –Trane, a leading global provider of indoor comfort and process solutions and services and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, introduces Airfinity™, a complete new range of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) rooftop units designed to comply with the upcoming European Union (EU) EcoDesign regulations, including the 2018 EcoDesign Directive, and reduce operational and installation costs.

The new Airfinity rooftop is a portfolio of light, compact and modular plug-and-play HVAC units that are compatible with wireless technology. The portfolio was designed to save time and costs for replacing and improving efficiency of existing buildings across Europe that require customizable solutions to meet the unique needs of a variety of commercial buildings.

“Our new rooftop portfolio was designed for flexibility. The units are user-friendly and allow easy installation, operation and maintenance,” said Dominique Silva, unitary product manager at Trane in Europe. “Airfinity products significantly saves time and costs for our customers during the retrofit process, which is especially important for retail facilities such as restaurants, cinemas or supermarkets, where the time window to install, maintain or replace equipment is very limited in order not to impact opening hours.”

New Trane Airfinity rooftop units, ranging from 40 to 250 kW, feature many sustainable enhancements that contribute to energy savings and reduced operational costs of the system. These include:

  • Seasonal efficiency (SEER) up to 3.5, compliant with 2018 European regulations (EcoDesign), which will enforce minimum requirements on part load efficiency for roof top units.
  • High efficiency multi-scroll compressors working in tandem for high performance in both full load and part load operation thanks to capacity modulation.
  • Variable speed technology on indoor fans for a more quiet, smooth and efficient operation.
  • Free cooling and heat recovery solutions for lower total cost of ownership. Heat recovery module utilizes best-in-class rotary wheel technology, with a return on investment of less than one year for typical applications that require fresh air introduction like cinemas, restaurants, warehouses etc. Designed for plug and play installation, without any need for an additional roof curb.
  • Improved indoor air quality thanks to high level filtration (up to F9) and double wall panels.
