Eligibility

The joint Trane/PG&E Shift & Save program provides for the installation of Thermal Energy Storage (TES) systems for the purposes of storing thermal cooling capacity during off-peak hours and/or partial-peak hours in order to meet thermal cooling load in subsequent on-peak hours. The Program's targeted customers are commercial, industrial, and agricultural customers as either a retrofit or new construction application in PG&E's electric service territory.

You are eligible to enroll in the program if you meet the following requirements:

  • PG&E bundled customer
  • Direct-purchase customer (must buy from PG&E directly, not an energy broker)
  • Have a peak load shifting opportunity
  • Have peak load dependent on outside air temperature
  • Comfort cooling driven

Customers that will benefit the most from the Shift & Save program are those who are within one of these categories:

  • Time of use utility rate structures (PG&E rates A6, A10, E19, E20)
  • Healthcare
  • K-12 and higher education
  • Commercial office building
  • Gaming and hospitality
  • Retail
  • Government institutions

The Shift & Save Program is funded by California utility customers and is administered by PG&E under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission through a contract awarded to North California Trane. California customers who choose to participate in this program are not obligated to purchase any additional services offered by contractors. References to PG&E or its Shift & Save program do not constitute an endorsement or approval by PG&E or Trane.
