Attending Trane’s Graduate Training Program (GTP) could be a turning point in your career. The program is geared to sales engineers who will sell Trane’s complex air conditioning products and systems to commercial and industrial customers.
“We’re looking for that rare breed, talented engineers who enjoy selling,” says Dee Dee Van Riper, college recruiting manager. “We’re a great company with a stellar reputation. Our Graduate Training Program is acknowledged as one of the industry’s finest and attracts applicants from major universities all over the world.”
The GTP, which was the first of its kind when it began in 1926, develops sales professionals with the highest ethical and professional standards. Since it is Trane’s policy to promote from within, graduates of our GTP go on to become successful sales engineers, marketing engineers, sales managers, district managers and company executives.
The overriding philosophy behind the GTP is to develop Trane account managers with the technical, interpersonal and business-related skills to support the company’s “One Trane” strategy. This strategy, in essence, calls for the seamless coordination of Trane’s equipment, service, parts, controls, contracting and performance contracting sectors to provide one solution for the customer.
The typical day of a GTP student begins at 7:30 a.m. and runs until 4:30 p.m. Much of this time is spent in Trane’s state-of-the-art training center in La Crosse, Wis. Students attend lectures and technical presentations; hear about "real-world" projects from visiting Trane sales engineers, managers and customers; complete homework assignments; and participate in individual and team projects. Students are evaluated regularly on the information presented in the program.
In the spirit of creating a solid foundation of interdependence within the program and the company, Trane has embraced the following seven principles:
